5 Months!

Wow, Hannah, you've changed more this month than ever before! Each day is a new adventure with you!

You weigh about 13 lbs, 24 inches long. You still have the brightest blue eyes and you hair is getting thicker with almost an auburn tint.

In the car you like to sing. Mama turns down the radio so I can hear your soft little voice cooing along. But when you're home and playing with Daddy you love to laugh and giggle and scream! You also think it's funny to scream in the grocery store with Mama too!

Shhh, don't tell your doctor, but you've started on baby food. You're a growing, hungry girl! We started with a vegetable for dinner, you like green beans, peas, squash, sweet potatoes and carrots are your favorite. After a few weeks we started with fruit for lunch; pears, peaches and applesauce. Most of the time we can't get the spoon to you mouth fast enough.

You've also started playing with toys. Mostly just chewing on them, but you've always got to have something in your busy little hands. You love to stand up straight on our laps and scream and smile; you're so proud of yourself! You also love to read books before you go to bed at night.

I've found you on your stomach a couple times in your crib, but we've yet to actually see you roll over.

FEET! A few weeks ago you discovered your feet and haven't let go of them since!

We're on a normal work/daycare routine now. Dad takes you to Grandma Bodell's 3 days a week while Mom works. While Mom enjoys my job, I miss you and can't wait to see you at the end of the day. Being your Mama is my #1 job!

You've spent some time with Grandma & Grandpa Rosenberger and have become quite a Grandpa's girl. You're interested in everything he says and love to be outside with him!

Miss Hannah Banana, you are our greatest joy and your little smile melts our hearts everytime!

Today we decided since it was 90 degrees, that it was the perfect day to head to Grand Haven....as did everyone else who lives in Michigan. Whew! After getting a "great" parking spot north of town, we loaded everything into the stroller, slathered ourselves in sunscreen (obviously missing some areas as I am burnt to a crisp in a few places as I write this) and joined the single file line of bikers, strollers, skateboarders and slow old people on the boardwalk! We made it to the beach to find the red flag waiving, signaling "do not swim".... apparently us as well as 2.4 million others did not see the flag! It was windy!

Hannah was loving the sunshine and the people! Mom was freaking out a little reapplying baby sunscreen every 5 minutes! We changed her into her bathing suit from Aunt Mary... she was the cutest thing on the beach!

And of course we had to dip her toes in Lake Michigan for the first time. It was a bit cold and the waves were crashing in pretty loudly... and she hated it!

And even after we took her out and headed back to our spot in the sand she still hated it! So we packed up the screaming baby and joined the single file line back to our truck. On the way back to we stopped in a shady spot to watch a memorial service of a USCG veteran. It was a small group of people sitting in the shade sharing stories about this man, followed by a 21 gun salute and taps. It was a unexpected moment that was a privilege of sorts to share with a few other people who stopped to see what was happening as well. And by this time, our Hannah Banana was napping in the shade!

We decided next time it's that hot we're going to buy a kiddie pool.

4 Months!

A week late....

I can't believe Hannah has been with us for four months already! As of this month she's:

- in her own crib by 7 or 8 and sleeping through the night

- almost on a naptime routine

- now that Grandma Bodell retired she spends 3 days a week with her

- sings and talks all the time.... there was about a 2 week period that she just quit making any noises at all... now she sings in the car and talks (loudly) in the stores for all to hear!

- started eating baby food mixed with some rice cereal... so far she likes carrots, sweet potatoes and peas

- still loves to be outside and go for walks in her stroller

- likes to lay on her activity map on the floor... she's a squirmer!

- weighs 12lbs 2 oz

- starting to grab onto toys... she can get her paci to her mouth now... sometimes upside down or backwards
